1981 DeLorean DMC 12
1981 DeLorean DMC-12 is built by Dave Delman and Tom Neiland. 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 is the world's fastest-longest range electric car. DMC was a rear engine with gullwing doors and composite moulded chassis. To make it resistant to superficial blemishes and that it may not require painting anytime; the bodywork was composed of brushed stainless steel. DeLorean was proposed to be technically advanced, safe, high-priced and limited in production. These cars proved to be very disappointing and were sold poorly and a standstill was called to the venture in 1982. This legendary stainless steel DMC-12 was the inspired brainchild of Pontiac's performance guru named John Z. DeLorean during the 1960s.
This car has gull wing doors and stainless steel body panels. This electric version has got a better acceleration than the original internal combustion engine version. It uses a Net gain Warp 9 Series Wound DC. The drive train is stock 5 speeds manual - clutch less. The controller is the café electric Z2K-HV. It uses a 13 Deka 9A31, 12 volt, lead acid, AGM battery. These have got 3/8" stud connections and are wired in series with a 4/0 welding cable.
DeLorean Motor Company was the designer of 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 and 1981 being the birth year of this car. Its origin was in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Reilly said "Having a DeLorean is like five percent being a rockstar". This model became very famous because of its roll in Back to the Future which is a 1985 American comedic science fiction film.

The DeLorean DMC 12 was revealed at the Auto Show unveiled in 1977 with a unique stainless steel body, a rear engine configuration, a fiberglass underbody and not to forget astounding gull wing doors. The name of this car featured number "12" which is the indication of the first cost of DeLorean which was $12, 000 USD. DeLorean Motor Cars planned to make 30,000 cars at their Ireland Plant but in the short production run in 1981 and 1982, only 9, 000 DMC-12s were built. At present, there are around 6,500 of the original 1981 - 1982 DeLorean DMC-12's left.
